The Ballot
As a voter, you will cast your ballot to elect three officials:
- City of Kingston Mayor.
- City of Kingston District Councillor, based upon your residential address.
- School Board Trustee, based upon your residential address and which school board you support through your property taxes.

To run for a position on council you must be eligible to vote in that municipality. On the day you file your nomination, you must be a Canadian citizen aged 18 or older, and qualify as a resident or non-resident elector. As an eligible candidate or voter, your Qualifying Address may be one of:
- resident elector
- non-resident elector
- spouse of a non-resident elector
